Madeleine Duffy is a Texas-based painter and illustrator. She currently studies at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design with the goal of receiving her BFA in Spring 2025.
Madeleine was raised in Galway, Ireland, where local folk tales and superstitions gave way to a massive interest in myths and legends. This interest manifested early in her childhood and grew exponentially as she got older, morphing into a love for all things involving horror and the supernatural. Madeleine is also, and has always been, an unapologetic book worm, burying herself alive in yellowed pages and burrowing her way through both classic tales and modern fiction. Her love for literature, paired with her interest in the macabre, forms the basis for much of her work today. She works mainly in oils and acrylics, but is entranced by and will use any excuse to collect metallic watercolors.
When she’s not painting or reading, Madeleine enjoys doting on her spoiled cat, going for walks in the mornings, and the feeling of cold dirt between her fingers. You can find her in coffee shops, libraries, and at the bottom of her local bog.
